Highly drinkable

Twinings was founded in London England in 1706 and has a long and respected tradition of producing only the finest of teas. English Breakfast tea is a mixture of black teas from Sri Lanka which are blended to produce a smooth yet flavorful tea. Though often served during breakfast this tea tastes excellent all day long.



OK let's get down to brass tacks - this is another great tea. Harder to over-steep than some of the teas I have known it consistently produces a smooth and highly drinkable cup. Highly conventional in its taste English Breakfast tea has a robust flavor that stands up well to lemon and milk which makes it a favorite among those who like to accessorize their tea. Plus I must say that this tea is wonderful iced - add some lemon and sugar and you've got the right tea for a hot afternoon!



And that's my review. If you want an excellent all-round tea hot or iced one that goes well with any food then English Breakfast tea is for you. If you want tea from a great tea producer them Twinings is for you. I highly recommend Twinings' English Breakfast tea to all even those not normally into tea drinking. A fine and sturdy everyday tea

This is a very drinkable blend of Assam Ceylon and Kenyan black teas from PG Tips one of the UK's most popular brands. Although some California grocery stores (and Cost Plus World Market) stock this tea I had not tried it until reading helpful reviews on Amazon.



Each PG Tips bag weighs 38 percent more than the Lipton bag (that is available in the USA). As expected PG Tips makes a stronger brew. Each PG Tips bag has so much tea that I can easily make a 12 ounce mug with a single bag. I drink my tea black but PG Tips is clearly robust enough to maintain character with milk or sweetener.



PG Tips is a sturdy straight-ahead blend with more strength than Lipton's. It is a caffeine-rich tea - in part because each bag has more tea than other brands.



PG Tips uses a pyramid shaped bag that allows more room for tea leaves to expand while steeping. Does it make better tea? I don't know but it is a point of differentiation.



HINT: PG Tips also makes a Special Blend black tea that is only slightly more expensive in stores. I much prefer the Special Blend to their regular black tea. The PG Tips Special Blend is a very hardy and rich breakfast tea. The Special Blend is more sensitive to longer steeping times (I usually steep mine less than 3 minutes) but I find the taste more complex and satisfying.



Cognoscenti prefer loose tea. Tea bags contain the less expensive "fannings" or "dust" remains from processing loose leaf tea. And with some others brands of tea (not PG Tips) many people can taste the paper used in the bag.



If you sometimes appreciate the convenience of bags I recommend trying PG Tips as a sturdy everyday tea. And I more strongly recommend their Special Blend as a hardy and rich breakfast tea.More detail ...

My wife suffers from high blood pressure and not wanting to get hooked on blood pressure medicine sought out natural ways to control her blood pressure. A collegue of her's recommended rooibos and thats how we started drinking it. Its expensive to buy by the teabag and this product was the best value for money we could find. Surprisingly Bitter

I admit to being sceptical about having an instant tea that I would normally let steep for 5 minutes. This is the most bitter green tea I have ever drank. Maybe it's too concentrated or the water's not hot enough. I tried different drink size options and that didn't work. Maybe the black teas are better. Very beautiful and delicious

I've waited a long time to get this set as it was very expensive when it first came out. It was well worth the wait actually would've been well worth the cash had I spent it earlier. Amazon has a really low price on this.



The clear glass teapot holds about 16oz when full. Each tea flower will make 3 pots. The 3rd pot of tea is as good as the first the 4th is weak.



The tea itself is excellent. Some of the best I've tasted and I'm very particular about the tea I drink. I've been enjoying the variety that came with the pot - haven't found one I've disliked yet and it is fun trying them all.



Since you will get about 6 cups of tea with each tea flower - they are all beautiful I put the teapot on the table while the tea steeps so every can enjoy it. You will want to drink this with family or friends.



The whole set comes packaged nicely in a bamboo box that looks handmade. The box is pretty enough to be re-used for something else. The variety of tea is in a smaller bamboo box.

After reading pros and cons on the Twinings English Breakfast K-cups I decided to take my chances (based on brand name and favorable reviews). I was very pleasantly surprised that the taste and brew strength of the tea are of the best quality ... especially for a decaffeinated blend. This is my favorite of the currently (1/2007) available K-Cup Earl Grey teas. To calibrate this review to your tastes: (1) I like *tea* plus this one flavoring not herbs with a little bit of tea -- I'm even finicky about how much Bergamot gets put in. (2) I prefer Twinings to Stash (in bags not available in K-Cups) for that very reason. Twinings is sightly less expensive than Gloria Jean's or Celestial Seasonings and has the "cleanest" taste of the three. Briton's #1 Tea - PG Tips

The folks in the United Kingdom drink more PG Tips tea than any other brand and perhaps after you try it; it will be your #1 choice too! (By the way the folks in Ireland drink more tea per person than in any other country.)



PG Tips Tea and PG Tips Special Blend Tea is our home's standard tea. There are a few specialty retailers in the USA that now offer the PG Tips Special Blend Tea and hopefully Amazon will do so soon.



In the 1930s (the pre-digestive era in history) this tea was introduced by the name "Pre-Gest-Tee" suggesting the tea could be consumed before food was eaten but it was the grocers who gave it the abbreviation of "PG" - and the company added "tips" (since the company uses only the best part of the tea plant the two top leaves and bud of the tea plant to make the tea).



Many black teas sold in the USA are graded the basic medium grade Orange Pekoe (generally the tea leaves below the top two and bud) which is one of the reasons PG Tips gets higher reviews than most other teas. PG Tips also uses their pyramid tea bag that allows ample room for the tea to expand as it is infused. Additionally in my opinion PG Tips blends only two blends rather than blending a wide assortment thus becoming really good at what they do.



Here at Amazon PG Tips is priced at just over a nickel a tea bag (a good value for an imported product) when you order the 240 count boxes in a set of two and even less expensive in the higher volumes. PG Tips makes wonderful ice tea too and that's good news since Americans drink about 80% of their tea as iced tea and only 20% as hot tea. Worldwide more hot tea is consumed than iced tea and worldwide tea is the most consumed beverage (next to water) while in the USA it is the sixth most consumed beverage (next to water).



A very good question to ponder is "Why this is?"



Drinking an adequate amount of tea daily is now being considered to be very good for one's health and it is much more enjoyable to drink a really good cuppa (cup of tea) especially at the nominal cost of about a nickel a cup when compared to one of those gourmet coffee places who charge upwards of four to five dollars for a large cup of coffee.



When we have a guest in our home we always offer them a PG Tips cuppa and they always say they have never tasted a tea this good - thus I rate it 5 stars for its quality and very nominal price!

It works!

This is my second child and I didn't produce well for the first one so I'd pretty much resigned myself to minimal milk production and the theory that anything was better than nothing. I was pumping at work three times a day and taking home about 9 ounces of milk total (and at that it's more than I'd managed with the first child) when I caught a cold and my production started to dwindle again even though I wasn't taking any drugs. Frustrated but unwilling to wean my baby at only 2 months old I started taking this tea in the hope that it would at least sustain my current level of production. Because it's a little on the expensive side (I was buying it locally at the full retail price) I only drank 3 cups a day. (It recommends 3-5.)



A week later with my cold only just starting to clear up I was taking home almost 12 ounces of milk. Another week and a half later I'm catching another cold (the downside of having 2 kids in daycare...) but I'm taking home a solid 14-15 ounces of milk every day. This tea is the ONLY THING I have done differently -- no other supplements or dietary changes no changes in feeding or pumping schedules -- so I know for sure it's the tea that's doing it!



I don't know where its effectiveness will level out or if my production will continue to stay elevated if I stop drinking the tea but at this point I'm just thrilled with the short term results!More detail ...

Rooibos Tea and Spices.

Rooibos is Afrikaans for "red bush." Grown in South Africa's Cederburg Mountains and harvested during the summer this tea acquires its unique red color as a result of fermentation (in mounds) and oxidization when it is spread out to dry in the sunlight; naturally it is green.



Rooibos is known for its health benefits stemming from its rich content in vitamins antioxidants flavanoids and minerals (inter alia magnesium calcium iron copper zinc potassium fluoride manganese and alpha-hydroxy) and has a long tradition of medicinal use among the local Native population; among other things it is known to help cure asthma hay fever and other allergies acne eczema colics indigestion insomnia and nervous tension. Containing very few tannins and no caffeine rooibos has a distinctive aroma and amber color.



This tea blends well with various spices and condiments; my favorite mixture is a delicious loose leaf blend sold by my local tea store which features orange peel cinnamon grated coconut finely minced chili and red pepper. For a more commercial alternative though Tazo's Red Bush tea is a great choice as well: a rich exquisite blend of rooibos hibiscus orange peel rosemary several lemon ingredients (lemon myrtle verbena and balm) as well as a number of sweet spices. Tasty and economical!!!

I fell in love with flowering green teas from our local tea shoppe but I was very dismayed with the price ($4/ball!!!).



I was elated to find this listing since it amounts to about $1.50 per tea ball and it tastes great better than what we get at the fancy store. It has a light delicate flavor that doesn't get bitter at all! You can make five pots of tea without degradation of flavor or any increase in bitterness.

This is the product you will find on the grocery shelves in the supermarkets in South Africa. I have been taking Fenugreek to increase my milk production but I haven't noticed much of a difference.
